Der Hals hat eine mittlere Breite mit einem weichen U-Profil und einem Griffbrettradius von 16 Zoll. Die Saitenlage beträgt 3 mm am 12. Bund und ist derzeit mit Saiten der Stärke 11-50 bespannt. Die Originalbünde scheinen etwa 50 % Bundverschleiß aufzuweisen. Keines dieser Probleme tut dem Mojo dieser feinen Vintage Guild D25CH keinen Abbruch. The control cavity shows evidence of soldering and electrical work, including a replacement earth wire between the volume and tone pots. The pots and pickup are original to this guitar. The melodic low end pulse that defined a new breed of rock and roll and some of the most recognizable bass lines of the 1960s were produced by an unexpected source.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen the four lads from Liverpool got their first break, scoring a regular gig in Hamburg, Germany, a young Paul McCartney scraped together about 30 pounds to purchase a 1961 Hofner 500\/1 bass. At the time, there was little demand for rock and roll instruments, even less so a left handed one. It is widely believed that Paul custom ordered this bass to be left handed - a relatively simple task, due to the symmetry of the instrument. It is also speculated that Paul's bass was the first left handed bass Hofner ever built. This affordable instrument (compared to about 100 pounds for a Fender bass) sounded good, looked cool and was very light, around 2 kilos - half that of a Fender. A welcome feature, on account of the 6 hour shows they were known to play at the time. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePaul's second bass, a 1963 500\/1 was received by Paul just prior to their performance on the Ed Sullivan show, was to become Paul's main bass. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis example is very similar to Paul's 1963 \"main\" bass that he has played most and is most known for. This 1966 bass features the same staple pickups and pickup location as the 1963 as well as almost all other appointments. The differences between this and the 1963 are most notably the raised lettering on the head stock and a slightly wider control panel on the body. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis bass particular instrument has a rock and roll provenance of its own. Purchased new by its one and only owner in 1966 - this 500\/1 bass was played by one member of one of the most popular Australian rock and roll duos of the 1960s. It has been lovingly taken care of by its original owner its whole life. There is minimal damage and a relatively light patina to the body and neck. The body binding is in great shape and the frets have minimal wear. \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis bass has just recently been serviced by highly respected guitar maker and published Hofner expert Piers Crocker. Necks on the 500\/1 bass a renowned for coming loose on account of the shallow mating surface. Piers reset and reinforced the fragile neck join with a steel bolt inside the body, pulling the heal securely down. This repair is invisible and a very practical repair which likely eliminates any further issues with the neck join.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pickups were also non functional upon receiving this bass. Piers painstakingly rewound both pickups by hand using original vintage enamel wire identical to the original specs and thickness. The pickups now measure a healthy 6.56k resistance in the neck and 6.17k in the bridge. There is an observable raise in the fretboard from the 16th to 22nd fret. This can cause fret buzzing from 14th fret onwards as the action is set quite low. This could be remedied by either raising the action, or leveling the frets. \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf only this bass could talk...! This is a lovely and well preserved vintage Hofner 500\/1 with a rock and roll history all of its own. The Australian manufacturer gained a reputation rivaling the big makers across the pond in the USA and the UK. The Fyrbyrd is Maton's flagship electric guitar of the mid 60s - the sounds of which can be heard on many popular recordings of the day. The Australian TV show \"Blue Heelers\" features the distinctive twang of the Fyrbyrd on much of the sound track.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar is mostly original and in excellent condition. The neck is nice and straight without the dreaded \"Maton twist\" that some Matons experienced due to the wood not having long enough to cure. Its safe to say the wood has cured by now!\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe original tuners have been replaced with a set of Klusons and they hold tune very well. The original Bigsby bridge has been replaced by a Nashville style adjustable bridge. The original B5 Bigsby is nice and tight with good control over the vibrato. All electronics work without issue. Ever driven a stick shift? It was in many ways an answer to Gibson's Les Paul, with similar body style, scale length and wood selection. The duo jet originally had Dynasonic Pickups. Les Paul himself preferred higher fidelity Dynasonic pickups over Gibson's P90s, and send Gibson's development team into a tailspin when he put on in the neck of his \"Number 1\" Les Paul Gold top. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGretsch was also ahead of the game in the body design. The Duo Jet featured a heavily chambered mahogany body. Giving the guitar a more lively, acoustic property than is heavy Gibson counterpart, as well as making it easier to play for long periods. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGretsch's hum cancelling Filtertron pickups debuted in 1958 and feature on this 6129T. The classic chime and sparkle is all there on this guitar, as is the light weight chambered body. A maple cap with no f holes gives this guitar good feedback resistance and makes it a great rock and roll machine (Malcom Young vibes anyone?). \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar is very original except for a Gibson style adjustamatic bridge. The original floating bridge base can potentially shift when performing big string bends (past one tone). These guitars were designed for much heavier strings. Commonly the bridges are secured with pins or double sided tape, however this isn't an issue for most players. Approximately 90% of life left in the frets. There are a few light scratches on the head stock, minor buckle rash and minor scuffs to the finish. Three separate pickup selector toggles, along with three individual volume and tone knobs, provide access to a highly customizable array of sounds.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThere were four variants of this model available at the time, numbered from H-75 to H-78. The H-75 was sunburst with a \"harp\" tailpiece; the H-76 was sunburst with a B3 Bigsby tailpiece; the H-77 was cherry sunburst with a harp tailpiece; and the H-78 was cherry sunburst with a B3 Bigsby tailpiece. This H-75 came with the harp tailpiece but had a B6 Bigsby installed later. It wasn't uncommon for these guitars to have a Bigsby installed prior to sale, depending on availability. The original harp tailpiece is included with the guitar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe quality of this guitar is evident when playing. The neck profile is somewhat thick, with a fair amount of material on the shoulders—similar to a '50s Gibson profile, but a little slimmer. Combine that with the binding and block inlays, and you'd be forgiven for thinking you had a golden-era Gibson in your hands. The giveaway would be the tone emitted from the gold foil pickups. The added chime and clarity open up a world of possibilities, from surf and garage to hard rock and jazz. Daniel Quine Auerbach from the Black Keys has famously played an H-78 (cherry sunburst with Bigsby) for many years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOne thing great playing vintage guitars often have in common is that they have been played a lot. There is plenty of evidence of that on this guitar, with several modifications to maximize the functionality of this instrument. The bridge has been replaced with a Gibson ABR-1 style adjustable bridge, a brass nut has been installed, and Schaller tuners have been added. These modifications make for a guitar that holds its tune very well, even with aggressive Bigsby use. The action is good, with a very slight neck relief and 2.3mm action at the 12th fret.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe neck and bridge pickups have a very healthy output of 11k and 12k ohms, respectively; however, the middle pickup is reading a very low resistance of 1.37 megohms and would likely need to be rewound. All parts are original and function properly. The action is set at a low 2mm at the 12th fret. The neck has a slim but not cramped nut width of 41.3mm, tapering to 49.6mm at the 12th fret. The neck profile has some depth, measuring 22mm at the 1st fret. There is a reasonable amount of material on the shoulders, giving the neck a subtle thickness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe high-gain pickups from Rickenbacker are somewhat of a misnomer; they aren’t particularly high gain at all. The Guild M-80 is very well crafted instrument, with a number of attributes which make it a joy to play and a stand out instrument in a sea of Gibsons and Fenders.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar was allegedly owned for some time by a guitarist for a particularly famous Australian rock group. I cannot confirm or deny this, but it is quite plausible. There are also many videos circulating of Nashville\/LA studio legend Tim Pierce playing his 1970s Guild M-80 to glorious effect. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAside from the similarities of the classic Les Paul, there are certain attributes that make the M-80 a particularly nice instrument. A close look at the bridge and you’ll see a whole lot of engineering. Rolling string saddles with offset spring loaded intonation screws which give near effortless intonation adjustments and make this one of the easiest guitars to put perfectly in tune. Threaded body inserts with large bass and treble side thumb wheels make setting up the action just as easy. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe neck on this guitar is medium\/slim C profile with a nut width of 42.1mm tapering out to 50mm at the 12th fret. The action is a super low 1.5mm with minimal fret buzz due to a very straight neck and decent frets. The original frets are smooth with no sharp edges. The binding has some cracks, but is otherwise complete. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe controls are a pickup selector, separate volume and tone for each pickup, a phase switch and a master volume control. Guild's low wind HB-1 humbucking pickups offer more clarity and chime over your traditional humbucker. Their tone lies somewhere between a Gibson humbucker and a Gretsch Filtertron.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt some stage this guitar has landed on its butt, causing the rear strap button to be pushed in a few millimeters (see photo). This guitar has plenty of patina, buckle rash and signs of general rock and roll wear from its near 50 years in the game, none of which effects playability. This particular Hofner has spent its life in Australia, which can be attributed to some very cool vintage 1960s\/1970s stickers on the case (Artcraft, Consolidated Neon, Thredbo).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Hofner Verithin lives up to its name. The side thickness is just shy of 1 1\/4”, which is a 1\/2” thinner than an ES-335 or ES-330. It is one of the thinnest hollow body guitars you’re likely to find. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe body of this guitar is in great condition with very little wear and damage to the finish or hardware. The frets are original, as are the open back Hofner tuners, which work quite well with an acceptable amount of play in them. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt a glance (without removing the innards) the pots appear to be replacements. The knobs have been replaced, possibly at the same time. The neck pickup is not functional. We’ve not determined whether its a wiring malfunction or the pickup itself, however, the 44 gauge enamel wire on these early Hofner pickups is very thin and susceptible to corrosion. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar will need structural repair if it is to be played conventionally. At 5mm, the action on this guitar is high, this is largely attributed to a slight bend at the neck\/body join. In order to rectify this, a neck reset with reinforcement to the body\/neck join area may be in order. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHaving said that, this guitar is a very worthy candidate for a good overhaul. The finish, binding and appointments are all in great shape. The figured maple back looks stunning and the cherry red finish really draws the eye. Burns guitars are a time capsule. Due to their brief reign in the 1960s, its hard not to tie the name with that era. And few guitars are more reminiscent of the 1960s British sound than the Burns Double Six. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJim Burns founded the Burns company in 1959 and soon established a reputation for making fine guitars. It wasn’t long before Hank Marvin and the Shadows ditched their Fender instruments in favour of these high quality British instruments. Things were going well for Burns until they were acquired by the Baldwin Piano Company in 1965. Baldwin essentially put the Burns brand on the shelf while they focused their efforts elsewhere (they were also busy shaking things up with Gretsch Guitars at the time, but that's another story). Several attempts to revive Burns had occurred through the 80s, with little success. In 1991 Burns guitars were reintroduced under the name “Burns London”. From here Burns split into high end UK made collector guitars, and the more affordable Korean and later Chinese made variants. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis Burns Double Six is an incredibly well made instrument, with the finish and fit of something in a much higher price bracket. The neck is nice and wide, which makes navigating the 12 strings relatively easy, although it may be a little challenging for smaller hands. The contoured Basswood body and 4 bolt maple neck make it a more robust and comfortable instrument than its Rickenbacker alternatives, and the Fender-esque body contours make this rather large guitar a rather comfortable instrument to play. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis modern iteration of the Double Six has a few subtle changes from the original, most notably the updated bridge design makes for easy intonation. The chrome is remarkably well-preserved, showing only light pitting on the bridge and control plate, though some chrome plating is coming off the volume and tone knobs. The top bracing was made wide enough to accommodate the Charlie Christian pickup. L5s could be ordered from the factory with a CC pickup in the 1930s and '40s, and, as on this guitar, the top bracing would be installed wider to accommodate it. To put this into perspective, a Sunburst Fender Stratocaster in 1962 cost $289.50!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOnly days after selling our last 1962 Harmony H-75 we received an email from another guitarist who had a 1962 Harmony H-75 that they had decided to sell. These guitars are very rare and for us it was a wonderful coincidence. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis Harmony has had quite an interesting life. At some stage the original sunburst finish has been stripped and replaced with a clear lacquer. This would have been early in its life, possibly in the 1960s on account of the opaque hue under black light. Adding to the mojo of this guitar is the vintage 1960s pin up decal by famed Italian artist Ziloky Boston. Brian Setzer from the Stray Cats’ original 1959 Gretsch 6120 that he purchased when he was 17 sports a pinup girl decal by the same artist. How cool!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar performs very well. The action is nice and low, the neck is straight and all of the pickups and controls function as they should. The rear volume pot has been replaced and sports a Marshall style knob. The vibrato system works well. It appears to be an amalgamation of multiple 1960s Japanese Teisco parts. While it is super cool and 'of the era' its structural integrity is questionable. This guitar would look fantastic with a B3 Bigsby like the original H76s and H-78s came with. The gold foil pickups are surprisingly versatile. They can rock hard, but have a nice clear jangle to them and clean up well for jazz and surf tones. The shorter scale neck has a comfortable vintage feel with some chunkiness to it. The neck has been refretted and has tall jumbo frets with minimal signs of wear. The tuners have also been replaced with metal tulip button tuners. Despite not matching the original tuner footprint they function very well. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar has at one stage been set up as a left handed instrument and then converted back to right hand. This is evidenced by a strap button hole in the lower horn and a plugged up output jack hole on the bass side of the lower bout. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe natural finish really highlights some excellent flame maple on this guitar. Harmony did not hold back on the quality of materials with this instrument. The finish is perfect with virtually no signs of wear and tear. The Bigsby arm has lost a small amount of its gold finish and shows slight tarnish. The tuners, pickups and control knobs show very light tarnish and present as near new. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is a reason the Gretsch White Falcon is so iconic, and its not just down to its looks. They are excellent and surprisingly versatile instruments. The all maple construction with trestle bracing and ebony fingerboard make a bright and resonant instrument. From the first note the tone is even and clear, with warm mids, supportive low end and articulate top end detail. The tone is less “scooped” than many dreadnoughts and provides a fullness of tone which supports single notes and finger style playing. The neck has a very slight chunkiness to it. Not thick by any means, but enough heft for a comfortable grip with larger hands. At 44.6mm nut width, the fretboard is wide enough to articulate complicated chord shapes with ease. The rock maple binding, abalone rosette and inlays with West African ebony fretboard and bridge and hide glue construction further compliment the exceptional materials and craftsmanship featured on this guitar. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 814ce received substantial changes by master guitar designer Andy Powers in 2014. It really does feel halfway between a Strat and a Gibson 330. The neck profile is very Strat like, compounded by the similar scroll headstock. The 25.5” scale length and maple body combine to give it a bright, snappy feel. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe neck date on this guitar is September 66, which puts construction right around late 1966\/1967. This Coronado 1 is in excellent condition. The neck is nice and straight with a good low action, currently at a low 1.7mm at the 12 fret. The guitar is strung up with 10-46 gauge strings and has a tremendously comfortable feel with the 7 1\/4” radius and slim C profile neck. The frets are in quite good shape however there is some well warranted signs of light fret wear around the lower 5 frets. DeArmond have been a well regarded pickup manufacturer since the very early days of electric guitars, and this pickup reminds us why. This original DeArmond neck pickup sounds pick and full with ample clarity. Being a fully hollow body, this will feedback at louder volumes. But that’s part of the fun, right?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere’s minimal damage to this instrument. It has been well looked after. There are the usual light chips on the nitro finish, but no structural issues. This exact guitar was previously advertised on reverb 11 years ago as being a 1966 model. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is the exact model played by Anton Newcombe from the Brian Jonestown Massacre, right down to the missing vibrato arm!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBy the mid 60s the UK manufacturer of Vox JMI was struggling to keep up demand on account of the Beatles success using Vox amplification. As such Vox outsourced production to Italy. These Italian models are mostly the same, the main difference being the truss rod adjustment, which is handled at the base of the neck, rather than the at the headstock. Also many, but not all Italian Phantoms had a snap on padded back cover, this one does not. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar has rocked hard in its life! If only it could talk. As a result it has some issues which will need to be addressed before it can be strung up and played. As evidenced in the photos, you will see that the neck pocked has suffered damage. The ‘wall’ of the neck pocket between the neck and the front pickup has broken. It is a clean break and a simple repair for a skilled luthier. This, however has lead to the neck shifting forward. A guitar tech some years ago tried to compensate by tightening the truss rod as far as it would go, and is jammed. The truss rod is a replacement and doesn't feature the protruding knob at the base of the neck which is standard for this model. The bridge cover is missing, the vibrato system is missing its spring and vibrato arm and a large bushing rests in place of the spring - essentially making it function like a hard tail. A good idea on a 12 string! There is the usual pick guard shrinkage which has lead to pick guard warping and cracks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bridge and middle pickup are reading low resistance, which points to coil corrosion or break, they will likely need to be rewound. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese repairs are relatively straightforward for a skilled luthier, but this guitar shouldn’t be strung up and played until these problems are addressed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAside from these issues the guitar presents in decent rock and roll ready condition. The paint has a nice aged patina, the frets are in decent condition with only light wear marks. The original tuners appear to work well. The electronics, frets and hardware all appear to be largely original on this guitar. However the Super 70 floating pickup has a serial number dating it to 1976. At 20.2mm neck depth at the 1st fret, the feel is rather shallow and wide. This guitar features a rosewood “slab board” - which is a thicker, flat mounted slab of rosewood mounted to the maple neck, as opposed to the thinner, curve mounted veneers that started to appear later that year. It is argued that a slab board yields a slightly warmer tone than veneer boards. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt 3.73 kg (8.2lbs) this tele is on the slightly heavier side, and as such has none of the dreaded “neck dive” some of the lighter examples are notorious for. The neck is currently set with very slight relief and a 2mm action at the 12th fret. Compensated brass saddles and heavier bridge plate (Both Callaham) are a welcome additions, helping with intonation and sustain respectively.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pickups are bright with all the twang you an eat. The Fralin Blues are what Brad Paisley uses in his main Pink Paisley 1968 Telecaster, which can be heard on every one of his albums. His tone, for many pickers, is the stuff of legend. The bridge is clear and punchy. The neck pickup is somewhat Strat-like and excellent for sizzling blues.
