The Gretsch Synchromatic Jet Pro G1554 was made in Korea from 1999 to 2003. Light its more expensive brethren, it contains much of the DNA that make Gretsch guitars a favorite among many big name musicians.
This guitar has been unplayed for many years and has just had a comprehensive service and plays like new. The frets are in great shape with only about 10% wear. The 24.75" scale neck gives a nice slinky feel, similar to that of a Les Paul, with added clarity and airyness that Gretsch pickups are known for. The original Bigsby unit functions fluidly and tuning is stable. This guitar has just undergone a detailed clean and service and is in great shape. The neck is dead straight, and with a super low 1.5mm action at the 12th fret with minimal fret buzz, this guitar is about as easy to play as they come.
It is hard to believe this guitar is 25 years old. It has had minimal use and feels great. The main evidence of this guitars age is the corrosion that exists on many of the screws, as well as the washers on the tuning pegs. There is slight pitting on the chrome pickup covers. There is some light buckle rash on the back of the guitar and the pickup selector tip is missing. All of these are relatively superficial concerns for a guitar that is in otherwise perfect playing condition.
With the Bigsby tremolo, clear and open Gretsch pickups, super fast fretboard and light chambered mahogany body, this guitar would provide both beginners and seasoned players alike with a great sound and easy playing experience.
