The Fender Hotrod ’52 Telecaster is a well designed and classic instrument - taking that classic tele tone and feel and adding a hint of Gibson warmth to the mix, making a guitar that with a broad tonal range, with great playability and looks to boot.
The Hot Rod ‘52 Telecaster is a vintage style tele with some subtle upgrades. The original 7 1/4” radius has been flattened out to a 9.5” radius. The original bridge pickup of a telecaster is iconic, but some argue that the original single coil neck pickups can sound a little weak. The Seymour Duncan mini humbucker in the neck gives a welcome thickness and warmth to the tone of this instrument, and can also sound great for jazz, thumping chords or thick, sizzling solos. At 3.81kg (8.37lbs) this premium ash body carries a little more weight than some telecasters - as such neck dive is eliminated. The two piece body - joined in the centre has an attractive translucent blonde finish with almost no dings or scratches, only a couple of chips near the neck plate are visible.
This guitar - purchased new in 2010, has been very well maintained and cared for. The fretboard has 3 small marks on the 3rd and 4th fret, otherwise the neck is perfectly straight with minimal fret wear.
At 5.92k ohms, the Seymour Duncan mini humbucker in the neck balances well with the hotter 7.92k Custom Tele pickup in the bridge. Being a humbucker, it warms up nicely - great for midrangy chords or fat solo tone with an edgy bite.
This is a very original, un modified guitar with great versatility. Comes with original tweed hard shell case.
