Here is a fine vintage 1983 Fender Jazz Bass - 1962 slab board reissue. Made in the USA as part of the renowned Fullerton era reissues. This particular instrument sports an early refinish in aged olympic white. The tan lines under the pick guard show significant yellowing over the years, giving this instrument a decidedly vintage look.
This bass features original circuitry and hardware, with chrome stacked knobs, 3 ply tortoiseshell pick guard and single coil pickups reading 6.9k ohms at the neck and 7.2k ohms at the bridge.
The neck of this bass is slim and fast. 38.7mm nut width and a neck depth of 20mm at the first fret give this bass a very easy playing experience. The original reverse wound tuners have been replaced with later style forward winding tuners. One additional screw hole has been made to fasten each tuner.
We’ve seen a lot of vintage Fender basses with a subtle hump in the fret board around the 15th fret mark. And early shim job using a thin plectrum in the neck pocket has rectified this issue on this particular bass. We’ve left this shim “as is” - considering how well it functions and is part of the character of this instrument. There is slight relief in the neck and plays well with a low 2.5mm action at the 12th fret.
Housed in its classic Fender tweed case, this vintage Fullerton made American Fender Jazz Bass is both a collector piece and a serious contender for the working musician.
