For the guitarist who wants a classic looking, classic sounding Jazzmaster with updated playability, the Classic Player Jazzmaster Special keeps the iconic look while adding practical upgrades. This version of the Jazzmaster features hotter pickups, a Nashville style adjustamatic bridge and a slightly more angled neck pocket for better sustain and stability. These features combine to give it a confidence inspiring modern playability while retaining the vintage Jazzmaster aesthetic and voice.
This guitar has had some use in its short life, with a bit of tarnishing on body screws and a few light surface scratches. This guitar presents very well in person. We feel the pick guard may have been swapped from at some stage, as all others of this model we’ve seen have tortoiseshell guards. We dig the black and white motif though!
These guitars excel by blending the best vintage attributes with upgraded electronics and geometry. The neck is a slightly slim C and very comfortable. The neck angle has been brought back slightly to increase tension on the trem unit which gives a snappier feel and a touch more sustain. We like how the neck does not have the black plastic insert for truss rod adjustment, and presents like a vintage example. Medium jumbo frets and 9.5” radius fretboard are also welcome additions with respect to playability. The hotter output pickups give a mid boost and slightly added thickness to the tone - pushing the instrument more in to rock and roll territory.
This guitar comes with a hard shell case that has also seen a few road miles, but packs a ton of rock and roll vibe. A classic looking, nice playing, affordable Jazzmaster.
