This is a very clean and tidy Gretsch White Falcon made in Terada factory, Japan in 2013. It has been well taken care of and is mostly original. The only modification this guitar has is the addition of a 50s style Gretsch Melita Synchronic Bridge. Designed in the late 1940s, the Melita compensated bridge predates the Gibson Adjustamatic by approximately 5 years. The design provides easy adjustment of bridge saddles and excellent tuning stability.
For an 11 year old guitar, the condition of this White Falcon is exceptional. The finish is perfect with virtually no signs of wear and tear. The Bigsby arm has lost a small amount of its gold finish and shows slight tarnish. The tuners, pickups and control knobs show very light tarnish and present as near new.
There is a reason the Gretsch White Falcon is so iconic, and its not just down to its looks. They are excellent and surprisingly versatile instruments. The all maple construction with trestle bracing and ebony fingerboard make a bright and resonant instrument. The internal bracing gives enough rigidity to let this guitar rock out at loud volumes while still having the ability to generate that classic hollow body guitar feedback should you want it. The neck is a classic Gretsch medium C profile with a reasonably flat 12” fretboard radius.
Many guitarists love the sound of Filtertron pickups. Having a higher fidelity than your standard Gibson Humbucker, they have the ability to provide clear twangy surf tones, while having sufficient midrange and output to generate heavy rock tones and everything in between.
