This Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition ’62/’63 Stratocaster Journeyman is an exceptionally well executed remake of one of the most desirable vintage Fender Stratocasters. The classic Lake Placid Blue in a tastefully subtle, lightly aged finish captures the vintage essence of this historically significant recreation. 

Built in 2023, this guitar is in perfect condition - as it left Fender Custom Shop. The case is in perfect condition, and has all its case candy including comprehensive build sheet from the factory. 

The neck of this instrument features a 7.25” to 9.5” compound radius, getting subtly flatter up the neck as the fretboard widens out. This virtually imperceptible change in radius makes bends easier up the neck, and mitigates ‘fretting out’ which can happen with the tighter vintage 7.25” radius. 

The neck features a curved ‘veneer’ rosewood board - which historically appeared mid 1962, white micarta fretboard markers and medium vintage 47095 fret wire. The 1963 Strat style C profile has enough heft to feel decidedly vintage, with subtly rounded corners and slim enough 42mm nut width to be comfortably handled by the majority of players. At 3.66gk (8lbs) - the weight of this guitar is right in the middle ‘goldilocks’ zone. 

Tonally, the guitar is equipped with a set of hand-wound Custom Shop ’60/’63 Strat Relic single coil pickups, measuring 5.46k at the neck, 5.66k at the middle (RWRP) and 5.86k at the bridge. Giving a very even balance across the set. These low resistance windings are perfectly suited to the open, clear character of a great 60s Stratocaster. 

With all original hardware, perfect condition with OHSC, case candy and comprehensive build sheet and documentation, this is a fantastic piece for the collector or serious player wanting the best in 1960s recreations the Fender Custom Shop has to offer.
